Hi there peeps and Happy Friday to all xxx
Today over at the Just Magnolia and hAnglar & sTanglar challenge, it’s the first one of the year and the turn of Team B
This week it’s our Special Monthly Challenge with the theme of
Anything Goes
and there is an option of Happy New Year and/or use something new on your project.
There is a fabulous prize as well …..
… of a Simon Says Stamp $25.00 voucher.
So …
… I went for a new stamp.
I used one of the Tilda’s from the new collection. She is very sweet but I am not sure that I like her barnet like that. This maybe because I have bad memories of having a similar hair do when I was a teenager – more later!!!
So old curly Shirley here was coloured with Copics in these colours -
Skin - E000, E00, E11, E21, R11, R20
Hair - E35, E41, E42, E43, E50
Clothes etc - BV0000, BV000, BV00, BV02, BV04, E41, R11, R32, R85, RV0000, RV00, RV10, RV29, YG03, YG95
The papers are from the Oh The Possibilites Collection over at Nitwits
I had a fiddle with the bloomage here and it’s a bit mix and match which I kind of like.
The main flower is for a Marianne Design Creatables die but I don’t know which one (doh!!) and this was topped with a rolled flower. Then I threaded a small ivory aster through a small paper flower and added some 5mm closed rosebuds - the asters and rosebuds are from Wild Orchid Crafts
I wrapped 2 lengths of 25mm white flat lace around the centre panel to make one really wide piece – you can’t really see it in this pic – and then wrapped a piece of 15mm Heliotrope No 7 Berisford Satin ribbon round to hide the join :)
Both ribbons are of course from Mary &Andrea over at The Ribbon Girl
You’ll notice that the sewing machine was hauled out again but don’t worry sweet peeps cos I will get bored of it soon lol!!!
The Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch which I got from Simon Says Stamp was used because of a ‘happy accident’ in the corner.
It wasn't the only ‘happy accident’ on this card – the image was matted onto some lilac card and I stitched the edges, but made a cods of it so it was trimmed down and now has no mat behind it nor any stitching!!!
That accident wasn’t happy at all :(
So there’s the old card done.
Now why I have got a bit of a downer on old Tilda’s frizz then?
Well, it’s because of these here ….
… they are the Hair Bear Bunch,
When I was just into my teens, I had very long hair, past my bum, and I pestered my Mum to let me get it cut into a feather cut, which she reluctantly let me do (she cried when it was chopped off, aww). Anyway a year or so later it had grown a fair bit and I then decided that I wanted a curly perm – very Kevin Keegan!!!. And bless her, she let me have that as well. I liked it for about 10 seconds and realised it was a big mistake, but I brazened it out and went to school the next day feeling slightly concerned about what my friends would think. Well the girls were fine – they must have felt my pain, nay shame lol!! But the boys had a field day – they were so nasty and they kept calling me Hair Bear. I didn't know why, but then I went and found out and have to say that they were right – cry cry :( I was the one on the left btw lol!!)
Anyway I was mortified and ended up so unhappy with it that my poor Mum paid for me to get it straightened again (or relaxed as they called it!!). I will never forget sitting in that hairdressers for ages with this gunky stuff on my hair which smelled of depilatory, puke bluh!!!
So on that lovely note I’ll say toodle pip and see you soon if not sooner.
Have the fabbiest of weekends and hugs to all xxx

ReplyDeleteDawny this is fab I actually love Tilda with curly hair though i do prefer to colour straight hair! I had one of those god awful curly perms too. It was fine once it had settled down but the first few days was a complete buffont nightmare! Hugs Rebekah xx
ReplyDeleteLove the card Dawn The colour is beautiful and love your flower arrangement. I always enjoy your banter and the "Curly Shirley really caused a laugh :))
ReplyDeleteWe all have done things with fashion in our teens that we would rather forget ...lol Thank heaven for Mums to the rescue xx
Hi Dawny, I know the feeling, I have curls myself (I really do but I straighten my hair cause I don't like the curls LOL). But in all honesty, I think the curls look lovely on little Tilda. Love your card too! HUgs, Frea
ReplyDeleteHe he I remember the hair bear bunch on a saturday morning and I loved it heh e. The cards brilliant I wouldnt knowwhere to start with al that hair!!! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the hair Dawn! I too looked like Tilda once and was called the same as you. sadly wasn't able to have my perm straightened but was told " Don't worry, it'll drop!!" Drop where, one has to question? Well, i had to wait for it to drop, by tying in a ponytail every day trying to pull it out, then went and had all my long locks cut off and go uber short. It was horrid! I am scarred for life....when anybody mentions a perm I go rigid!! So why poor Tilda has been inflicted with this monstrosity is beyond me! Good job she has no mouth otherwise I fear she would have it rainbow shaped!!!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so cute and love the colours.
ReplyDeleteDid chuckle at the curly hair story.
luv

Oh Dawny...Love your Tilda card and your teenage hair story...I had a familiar one! My mum was a hairdresser so I had all sorts of hair styles when I was little...and had lots of perms and my boyfriend had one as well. He really did look like Kevin Keegan and I remember the smell of the creams that got put on. My hairstyles usually went with what the girls on Grange Hill had at the time. You gotta find a photo and post it up!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Dawny. The colours are beautiful and love the embellishments. I used to look like deirdre barlow once in my teens with my tight perm -eek!!
ReplyDeleteHi Dawn, been there hair wise,my nick name at school was jane bush, nice hey !,not because of my lovely singing but my nasty wire barnet. It has improved, god bless straightening irons.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I'm back with a new blg.
