Should Have Gone To Specsavers :( …….. And A Little Warning – Please Read Peeps xxx

Hi peeps and what can  I say!!!!

I set the challenge for this week’s Papertake Weekly and then what did I do? Went and did something completely different, that’s what  – doh!!!

Anyway our challenge this week is

When Is A Card Not A Card? When It’s A  ….

And you are supposed to make a card that can double up as something else eg a gift voucher holder or little wallet etc etc. You get the drift?

We are sponsored by the fabulous Mary & Andrea over at The Ribbon Girl

And our prize this week is ….

ten-pound-gift-voucher

….  a fab voucher for you to spend in the shop.

So this ….

… is what the dope did.

Now even Stevie Wonder would be able to see that this is not a card …. it’s not even remotely like it. I grant you it is MADE of card but that’s about it.

So we’ve extended the challenge so that you can make a little gift as well as if you want to (ohhh my poor teamies, God help them is all I can say!!!)

But isn’t it a lovely design:)
However I cannot take the credit for it cos I'm not that clever (you may have noticed lol!!).

I made it from an amazing  tutorial which was done by the lovely Sarah Bonsell who IS that clever – you can get it (and other fab ones) right here.

Some gorgeous Wild Orchid Crafts bloomage and some beatimous buttons I found in my stash. I cut off the shanks (oohhh that sounds wrong and very painful lol!!) and stuck them on.  The filagree metal corners are also from WOC

And I’ve got a new toy – can you spot it peeps?

It’s  this …

*Martha Stewart BRANCH Craft Punch M230367

…. bad boy here – a Martha Stewart  Branch punch.

Yes I know that it’s been out a while but I only just got around to getting me one and I rather like it actually. I’m not sure it will be over worked like other poor beggars in my stash, but nevertheless it’s very delicate and pretty. You can get them from Simon Says Stamphere’s the link.

Thr papers I used today are from the  Oh The Possibilites Collection at Nitwits

fqb_possibilities

… verrry pretty indeedy

It opens out on both sides but I couldn't fit it all into the light box, so I did half lol!!

Here’s another view.

Right,  I did say in the post title that there was a little warning for you. One of my card club ladies sent this to me in an email and it came from a Police Station and it looks genuine so unfortunately it looks like it’s probably true.

This is what it said -

A woman visited the toilet in John Lewis @ Blue Water and hung her handbag on the back of the toilet door. As she carried on about her business, a hand suddenly appeared over the top of the stall and grabbed her bag clean off the hook!!! She immediately reported the incident to the head of security, who in turn informed the manager of the store.

A couple of days later she had a call from the head of security to say her bag had been found without her purse. So she arranged a convenient time to go and meet the manager to collect her things. On arriving at the John Lewis store at the agreed time, the manager was not expecting her & neither was the head of security. No one from the store had actually called her as the bag had still not been found.

When the lady got home, her house had been burgled with no sign of forced entry. The Police believe the robbers had used her Driving License for the address and her keys to let themselves in!

This is real - it isn't just a scaremongering story. Many will be so shocked at how complex bag snatching crime has become.
Please be extra vigilant ladies AND gents (with your man bags) there are a lot of desperate criminals out there!

Now I don't know about you but I for one always hang my bag on the hanger cos I don't like putting it onto the dirty floor.  I will be careful though from now on for sure.

On that note I’m off to do a bit more so I’ll see you tomoz and have a good evening.

Hugs to all xxx

Crikey what is the world coming to...we now have to try and manoeuvre our toilet ablutions with our handbags perched on top of our heads...round our necks or sitting on our knees...big hugs kath xxx

  3. Hi Dawny, what a lovely gift box in my favourite colour. This story is really unbelievable; you should have an eye everywhere. I for me never put my bag on a hook or else; it is always on me (when I am shopping by myself) or in the hands of the one accompanying me. But we have to watch out for this scumbags. Regards.

  4. Hi Dawny, I'm so glad I wasn't the only one to get it wrong this week!! At least you did it with something spectacular!! I've never seen anything like this beautiful box before! Thanks for the link and the bag snatching warning. These things always seem to get worse during the run up to Christmas.

  8. Don't beat yourself up Dawny your box is fabulous, must have taken ages.
I've heard of that before i never hang my bag on the back of the door in public toilets, i put it on top of the bins that are usually next to the loo.
That's awful though going to her house as well they are the lowest of the low.
